It is over.

Night class, that is. On the espistle of James, specifically. The main reason for my exhausted state the past three weeks (11 classes of about 3+ hours each). I didn't last long during class -- scumbag brain shuts down about one-third into class. At which point I would start Scrabble games on the iphone (my landslide win saves me from the embarrassment of being a total bimbo, which is what I felt because I didn't quite get the lessons, plus the extensive discussion some classmates have with the lecturer that I'm just clueless about) I just don't have the stamina for marathon classes. My hat's off to all who have. I'll add a deep respectful bow to that. Really. Made me wonder if I should take another class ever. Anyway, pain-in-the-ass-ignment's due in a month. I'll get started on it in about three weeks. Good night.

P/S: I sound terribly grouchy in this post.. like I hated class. Well, not really, I'm just reallyyy tired. But it's nothing a good sleep-in this weekend can't fix! :)

it's been a tiring week since i started my two-week crash course night class at BCM, studying the gospel of John. i don't hide my joy at being able to sit under mind-opening-and-blowing lectures (i seriously dare anyone to sit in one of these lectures and NOT be humbled by the depth and richness of the text), nor do i hide my disdain for coursework (we have to daily submit a short note on waht we've learned from the day's lesson, so i don't really get to rest when i got home -- need to send out the email before i forget stuff) but it's a good price to pay.

my head still hurts from trying to process the everything i've heard, at 3.5hours a night, that's like 14 hours.. it's like trying to finish one last plate of food at a buffet when you're already full. system overload -- i might just explode. heh. was soooo thankful for the day off yesterday -- i woke up at 1pm (partly also due to the insomnia bug that kept my exhausted body up til 4 the night before -- ARGH -- but i got to watch the latest ep of HIMYM tho' from tvduck.com -- whee!!) anyways, it's friday again!! oh happiness!

mm lemme share more of the music i like. happened to "bump" into mae this morning, so here goes..

i love mae.

is that understated or what? heh. anyways, they are one of the handful of bands that would get me totally gushing unabashedly at its mere mention. heh. but for now, going for the understated feel.

i've been totally smitten since i heard this first song from them back in 2006 (or late 2005).

mae :: the ocean

and i remember being in total delirium when i received the everglow album as a gift, and a just-because one at that! :) it's a lovely concept album, designed as a storybook complete with water colour illustrations.

their songs have come to define a period of my life which i totally love and absolutely hate at the same time.. much like the paradox from the blog banner way up there, which btw comes from this song.

mae :: awakening

and i had this song as my phone ringtone for the longest time. and i really like the music video :) [kinda reminds you of the one i posted last week, eh? :)]

mae :: supension

i was kinda bummed out when their keyboardist left in 2007 -- his melodies were one main reason why i got hooked i think (the bassist left at the same time, but erm, didn't make any difference to me :P poor bassists heh. i appreciate my bassists ok :). but some of their newer stuff ain't that bad too -- this was one of the songs i looped the entire day -- but it just ain't the same! i just read on wiki that they are back together sometime last year so yay. :)

mae :: just let go

there are also the little things which i love.. like their three EPs which were named (m)orning, (a)fternoon & (e)vening.. do you see that? things like this make me thrill me to bits. ^__^

anyways, that's all from me for now. have a good weekend. i suspect i will. :)

D for Distinction.

yesterday, i received the results of my previous bible school night classes (Genesis and Life of Christ). i got them late because i delayed in sending in my enrolment form, which was necessary for the academic office's records. the school rules said that when i clock in 16 credit hours, i have to matriculate for a course. and i was due for matriculation like two semesters ago. i'm just glad they didn't reassign my credits for these two subjects to Audit status. i also quite paiseh that the registrar office had to call me like.. many times chasing for my documents. truly there are no procrastinators like me. i'm infamous!

anyway.. so yeah, i got a D+ for LoC.

if you remembered, this (LoC) was a class that i pretty much was excited about. i had an excellent teacher who is one hardworking dude, and very knowledgable at that. it showed in his teaching and how he manages discussions. alas, he had a student like me. i know my laziness would come back to bite me one day, and finally it has. sigh.

i am kinda bummed out about this but i had it coming: i didn't complete some of the assignments - both reading and written, and my test scores were mediocre. i wanna complain that the requirements were too heavy but i see most of my working adult classmates completing everything required of them. and it wasn't like i didn't have time to do what i needed. argh. i've got no one to blame but myself.

:(

the post with not one, not two, not three, not five, not six, not seven, but FOUR youtube vids! whee!

on the easter weekend
i had a good friday. lol. sent out a chat meme asking what was everyone's thought about easter. got interesting answers ranging from "been busy - never really thought abt it" to some pretty lengthy discourses. mine? when i can get down to writing it, i'll post it up on the other blog k. ;)

was went to church for prayer meeting - enjoyed the sharing and praying together. it was a quiet, contemplative evening as i had expected, so i was glad!

Sat was a full day for me - was up by 545am - was invigilating an exam over at UM so i had to get to IBBM office by 7. when that --

which included a crazy morning as candidates left the first session by the swarms and a misconduct case - sigh -- why does it always happen on my watch!

-- was over, made my team pack in record time (without missing out on anything of course ;) so that we could hurry back to the office to deliver the exam material. barely had time to catch up with my ex-colls as i had to rush back to church for performance practice --
did this song with boy weiwen and it was very well received! ^^ *pats selves on back* we had only 2 practice sessions prior due to our tight schedules, but because we are big RK fans, they went smooth ler. happyness! not that i was looking for approval ahem, but the many "well done! we love the song!" that we got aft the service made it very worthwhile. girl weiwern (see why the gender distinction has to be made? :) thought that we sounded very well together. this was the 2nd time i sang with him, after christmas' how many kings performance - works out to be a charm. i wish ppl are more like u, b_ww!

relient k :: getting into you
(yeah i've posted this before :)

-- and music practice. it was combined service for easter, so i had to lead bilingually. but i can't. hahaha... thank God for singers who could! :) i really enjoyed practice - i think jive is quite an awesome drummer. hehe.. both the soo bros have very good work ethics. good job, auntie susin! :P

where was i. um. nvm. we'd a guest speaker - ps kevin gan - cos my pastor was not feeling well. for the life of me, i don't rber what he preached about. haha.. he was expounding on the story of the prodigal son, how the church is like the older brother. "all that i have is yours"

after service we'd lunch at church, mingled around a little bit. but still not enough. there was this guy whom i've not spoken to despite him having been in our church for what, 2 years? bee said she'd intro us, but i was suddenly reluctant. sigh. told her next time la. it's so weird kan. well, he's the rest of the YAs to talk to, so it was OK la.

after service, i was heading home when g_ww texted to ask if i wanna study. NO-I WANT TO SLEEP! but i did. haha.. we hung out at the lovely Societea, a cosy tea place, with her reading for CFA and me for my nite class exam. i was a little dizzy earlier but it soon developed into a splitting headache the size of the grand canyon. when i got home, i was so close to tears but i couldn't cry cos i was too tired. wah - srsly thought i would die from that. but i woke up this morn -- after an superb 12 hour sleep -- still on earth and headache gone. whee! ;)

bloooooo skyes
i love this new vid by owl city. i wouldn't be surprised if skies somewhere are actually like that. this is silly but i could cry if i stood under one of those. ;)

owl city :: vanilla twilight

copeland
they is coming to kayell. i wonder if i should go, since i will be missing out on West Side Story anyways on account of cost. :( booohooo.. it's definitely a cheaper form of entertainment plus i haven't been to a concert since '08.. but i only know a couple of their songs. tak syiok oso. see how la. :)

zune
i've asked a friend who went back to US to help me send my zune to the service centre and see if it was fixable. but my zune never made it louisiana - someone stole it from his luggage during an interstate flight. UNITED AIRLINES - you suck! but we know that already.

check out this is a vid made by a Canadian band who had a terrible experience flying united airlines - the airline workers broke their $3.5k guitar and the airline refused to compensate so they made this vid to get its attention - and it worked! (read the story here) maybe i should do the same.. konon-nya. :P

dave carroll band :: united breaks guitar

on being overtly opinionated
there are just some people who because they think they are right, also think that they MUST shove down their opinions down others' throats. everyone is entitled to their opinion fine, but why do you have to remove all doubts that you are an intelligent life form incapable of even the basic level of intra-species communication when you open your mouth? and when i mimic you, please, it wasn't meant to flatter. i just want to point out how ridiculously obnoxious you are. pfffbt!

mm i'm ranty today. wad's going on?

*BREATHES*

anyways, here' stg awesome to end the post. i don't care much for the song, but the 4-min rube goldberg contraption is just awesome. someone asked if OK Go are a bunch of geeks who happen to be rock stars or are they rock stars who moonlight as geeks. hehe.. 'tis just amayyyzing!

ok go :: this too shall pass

mommy
my mom was admitted to the hosp on Thu on suspicion of dengue, as she's had fever for more than a week running now. thank God the blood test came back negative, but she's still being warded for observation. her temp's been oscillating between 38 & 39 degree celcius the past few days. doc said there will be another round of blood test tmr. :|

i pray that she wld be all right soon. it's her birthday on Sunday. she's turning 55. like, wow.

coffee, tea and me
i became a "tea person" sometime last year. i don't quite rber exact details surrounding the epiphany, but i was aware of the events leading up to it.. helping myself to a bunch of free tea bags from hilton when we had an event there, buying green tea teabags from the hypermarket, occasionally choosing tea over coffee to go with the cake at dessert.. it just happened.

one reason i like tea is that i could drink it without sugar. milk with tea is a definite No-no. my body plain rejects it. but coffee's all right. one of my fav tea place is societea, a fortuitous find for both chongy and i [can't wait til we get to hang out again, when her theatrical endeavor ends (expect another promo on this soon :)]. love the ambience and the selection of tea. :)

depending on mood, i usu get either mocha or americano -- weirdly these are both extremes, one very sweet, the other rather bitter -- from the ubiquitous starbuck joints. it's in the 'indulge' category right now, it's just too pricey for a poor office worker like me. boo hoo. anyways, i don't take latte/cappucino after seeing how it's prepared -- the amount of milk put in just puts me off. blergh.

i like the kopitiam variety too. the proliferation of kopitiams around KL in the past few years made getting a cuppa local joe almost effortless. i usu go to oldtown or hailam (not pappa rich cos they are so expensive. the rich in their name must have referred what we would make them). i also like cafe chawan in bangsar, which has like 15 various types (maybe more) of coffee from all over msia.. ipoh, kluang, tenom, kemaman, cap kapal api, cap tupai, you name it. the only thing i don't like abt that plc is that it's open air = smokers. urgh.

nevertheless, a nicely chilled H2O is still my fav bev. ;) think i'll go get a glass before i con't writing. :)

i would so lurrve this tea sub. and while milk repulses me, this jug is so cute!!!!

focus
i read/edited 28 pages of text in under 2 hours on Wed. mm, so i *can* focus if i *need* to, but not if i *want* to.

test
i crammed one month's worth of notes in a 45min revision, in the train on the way to class. the test paper creamed me. it was awful. sigh.

project 365/2010
life sucks. right now it does. which is all the more why i make myself count my blessings. looking back at the 31 items that i had in January does remind me that yeah, it wasn't that bad. another part of me might argue otherwise.. perspective, girl, perspective.

mm, this kinda remind me.. where's yours? :P
