i assume that this song (腳本, The Script) was inspired by this well-known, oft-quoted line from Shakespeare's works:

Jaques:
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.

As You Like It, Act 2, scene 7, 139–143

i sure have caught myself entertaining such futile thoughts. life can appear to be like that sometimes, as if we have no say or control, or that it has a fixed ending. it's obviously a lie. otherwise, life is basically meaningless and unnecessary. and that's not how God has intended it to be. if you have to disagree with me, your god is too small to handle this.

this is a somewhat sad song, especially if you listen to it on a Sunday evening nearing dusk. that window of time, around six to seven o'clock, when the sun starts giving way to night, and the shadows of the furniture begin creeping up on the walls: if you are not careful, you would suddenly be overcome with a strange sense of vulnerability and dejection. don't get sucked into it! just hold your guard up, flood the room with lights, blast some music or take a deep breath and you'll be fine. been there, done that! :)

after reading through the script, i felt like i was trapped so deep within
how am i suppose to play the role of someone who loves you
when the leading male, at the end of the play, has to smile through his tears
